And I thought every cuban in Florida would be voting for John McCain. Seriously, I like, drive through Coral way near FIU and every cuban household has a big giant McCain/Palin Sign on their lawn, complete with a nice little addition of five others set up around the house.
But, like I said- I believe in miracles. And miracles do happen.
The Cuban American National Foundation put out a statement on Saturday, the 25th, saying: "We have presented the campaigns of Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama with the following reccomendations; to engage democratic reformist forces in Cuba, lift the 2004 travel restrictions on cuban americans, change the rules that make it possible to send cash and aid to Cuba, and to rebuild our intelligence agencies in Cuba that have been dismantled over the past decade." (this was summarized)
They continue to say "Both presidential candidates have made clear that they want to help the Cuban people achieve freedom. But Barack Obama's forward-looking and proactive approach toward empowering the Cuban people is more in line with these proposals than John McCain's vow to continue the Bush administration's policy.
More of the same will not bring about freedom in Cuba, and more must be done to directly assist Cuba's opposition movement. "
